I have great memories from that day:

André forgot his chocolate box due to a problem he had.
Naiara sat next to me and we talked a lot with Dayana and Dayse.
Pedro didn`t talk so much because he didn`t stop eating…. kkkkkkk no I am kidding…. Pedro gave a bar of chocolate. HE WAS MY SECRET CHOCOLATE FRIEND. I was Dayse`s – you can see it in the slide show:)
Katielle was so elegant in a different blouse. All her photos are so beautiful. Ahhh people, she wants ALL the photos…KKKKKKK
Katiúscia was the champion… I won`t say how many pieces of pizza she ate but she did a very good job… I didn`t see her eating… she knows how to do it nicely…
Janaína and Eveline were so beautiful. I saw their embrace in the pictures and I found it so sweet. Thanks God I see Eveline smiling… we love you, girl!!! Janína, thanks for all your help with hte class this semester. kisses…
Did you see Leandro`s faces in the photos? He is very funny. I saw he talked to everybody and appears in about 90% of the photos… kkkkkkk we could see you were there. thanks for being so prompt with my projects.
Nayara went to Naiara`s house with me. You are always very sweet and ready to help. Thanks a billion.
I can`t stop laughing when I see Rafael`s blonde hair. You are so funny… NEWS!!! He bought a new car and gave a ride to some of us. Congratulations country music boy!
I hope Dayana and Dayse will be my future laywers. They are so dedicated to their passion. Go for it, girls!

Capture important voices for playback
When it comes to portable electronic gadgets, thin is always in. We constantly want to see our electronics becoming lighter, smaller and thinner so that we can have the justification to buy a shiny new toy. Yes, new features are always nice – but what we really want is a gadget so thin it will blow the mind of anyone who even gets a passing glance of it.

Convenient and highly portable design mean you can take it with you just about anywhere with minimum hassle.

The Fizz – Screw-on Ice Cream Float Cup
by Steve
Friday, January 04, 2008
The Fizz is a plastic cup that screws on to a plastic PET bottle allowing you to create a mobile ice cream float.
Once you screw the cup to a bottle, fill it up with ice cream, then insert a straw, and finally, squeeze the bottle. This fills the cup with soda, allowing you to sip out a mixture of ice cream and soda.
The cup is reusable, but not dishwasher safe.

Pancakes from an Aerosol Can
by Steve
Thursday, October 25, 2007
Batter Blaster is probably going to change the way pancake batter is sold.
This probably needs little explanation: just shake the can, point it to a hot griddle, and push on the nozzle.
Not sure why this hasn’t been thought of earlier.
The nutrition label says each can contains 8 servings, and it’s carries the USDA “Organic” stamp.
The Batter Blaster website comes with a video showing you how to use this. It also has instructions on how to cook pancakes.
There’s also a store locator, but I couldn’t find any stores sellings this in the Southern California area where I live. So I typed in a San Francisco zip code (94102), where the company is located, and a bunch of stores came up.

Breakfast Cereal for Dogs
by Steve
Friday, December 30, 2005
Bow Wow Breakfast Cereal for Dogs is a new line of dog food intended for morning consumption. The company that makes it claims it’s specifically formulated to meet a dog’s needs in the morning.
I’m not sure specifically what a dog’s needs are in the morning. I find my dogs often need to poop in the morning, maybe that’s what it means.
They have six varieties in all, including:
- Barkfast Squares
- Chompions
- Chewa-Bunga
- Fido Flakes
- Grrr-nola
- Pooch-Cheez
ZAP Smart Car
by Steve
Tuesday, July 26, 2005
A company called ZAP (Zero Air Pollution), has produced a version of its ZAP Car for the United States, called the “Smart Car“.
The ZAP Cars have been selling well in Europe for some time, which caused the company to develop a version that meets American standards. Just last week the European-made cars entered the United States on their way to dealers throughout the nation.
The Smart Car is still a gas-powered vehicle, however. It has a rear-mounted 3-cylinder turbo engine producing 60 horse power. It has a six-speed automatic transmission, and an 8.7 gallon fuel capacity.
I couldn’t find any specifics on the company website as to specifically what kind of gas-mileage one would expect from a Smart Car. But I’m sure it’s probably pretty good.

MAKING OFF:
Mixed Conditional
Conditionals
The Mixed Conditional
There are two types of mixed conditional sentences. One of them states the present result of a past condition and the other state the past result of a present or continuing condition.
Present result of a past condition
Here we use a past perfect in the if-clause and would + infinitive in the main clause.
- If I had accepted that job I would be a millionaire now.
- If I had married him I would live happy now.
In these sentences the time is past in the If-clause and present in the main clause. They refer to an unreal past condition and its probable result in the present.
Past result of a present or continuing condition
Here we use a simple past in the If clause and would have + past participle in the main clause.
- If I didn’t love him I wouldn’t have married him. (= I love him and that is why I married him.)
- If I were invited I would have come. (= I was not invited. Therefore I did not go)
They refer to an unreal present situation and its probable (but unreal) past result.
- If I were a good cook, I would have invited them to lunch. (= I am not a good cook so I can’t invite them to lunch.)
- If I knew English, I would have got a better job.

A2 – PET PEEVES
PET PEEVES = THINGS THAT ANNOY YOU,
YOU CAN’T STAND

ADVANCED STUDENTS,
EVERYBODY HAS PET PEEVES TO TELL. I HAVE SO MANY PET PEEVES THAT I HAD TO SELECT SOME OF THEM TO POST HERE. I CAN SAY I DON’T GET IRRITATED ALL THE TIME, BUT A LOT OF THINGS GETS ON MY NERVES. UNLIKE MANY PEOPLE, SMALL THINGS PISSES ME OFF. CHECK IT OUT!
SOME OF KELLY’S PET PEEVES
It really annoys me when I go shopping and there is no parking space for me. I have to wait for a lot of time for one. I think parking space is getting a big problem in Brasília. Wherever I go, depending on the time of the day, it is almost impossible to park the car.
It gets on my nerves when I am in the middle of an important thing on the web and it goes dead. I have to restart all over again…. it is worst if it is a chat. I have to say that my net isn’t good and apology. However the conversation looses a little bit the focus I was having previously.
I don’t understand why Brazilian drivers use their hands to ask for passing. They avoid the TURN SIGNAL to use the OK SIGN. They stare at us and show the ok finger. Even if I don’t want to let them go I have to. Many drivers show the OK SIGN and don’t stop the car to SEE if they can really go. They just go… It can be dangerous! WAIT FOR YOUT TURN!
It bugs me when I don’t have money to buy a nice thing in the end of the month. How my salary is so small!
I am having a list of the most annoying things.
Top ? list of Pet Peeves
-
People who are always late.
-
Talking on cell phones and driving too slow in the fast lane.
-
People who chew with their mouth wide open.
-
People throwing cigarette butts on the beach or out of cars.
-
Waitors and waitresses with dirty fingernails.
-
People who don’t perform their duties at work.
-
Sneezing in your hand and shaking someone’s hand afterward.
-
Not washing hands after using the bathroom.
-
Children’s hand prints on the windows in car.
-
People who constantly stand in your personal space.
NOW MY DEAR STUDENTS, TELL ME YOUR PET PEEVES.

A2 – VALUES
HI MY LOVED STUDENTS FROM A2,
I REALLY LOVE GIVING CLASSES AT A2 THIS SEMESTER. MY STUDENTS ARE SO NICE!
WELL, WE HAVE TALKED ABOUT VALUES A LOT. WE SELECTED SOME ESSENTIAL VALUES TO OUR LIFE. FOR EXAMPLE: honesty, perseverance, sincerity, openness, tolerance, simplicity, solidarity, perseverance, kindness, sensitivity, patience, loyalty, compassion, courage, forginveness, assiduousness and much more. Family and friends values are vital as well.
I can say that I am glad my parents taught me how to be a nice person with anyone. I try to treat people kindly. Sometimes I have good receptiveness. However some people insist on being so rude. I wish I had given everybody the power of love, so we would have only receptive people around us.
I hope to see your composition here with a fantastic will to get to know you more.
Kisses
I3 – BIOGRAPHY
HI MY DEAR STUDENTS,
Our semester has been great. We have talked a lot. This time you are going to talk about biography.
BIOGRAPHY: the moment we can talk about a person’s life…
The questions for the oral presentation are:
WHO IS THIS PERSON?
WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPRESSIVE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THIS PERSON?
WHAT DID THIS PERSON DO TO BECOME FAMOUS OR IMPORTANT TO YOU?
DO YOU ADMIRE THIS PERSON’S SUCCESS?
You are going to talk about an important person for you or for the world.
I hope to learn a lot with your presentations.
Be prepared and good luck!
Teacher Kelly
A2 MY MOST EMBARRASSING SITUATION :)
Hello students from A2,
As I told you I am going to leave here some of my embarrassing stories. Here goes the first…
My first year as a teacher in Recanto das Emas was a challenging experience for me. I had to give classes for elementary students.
My classes were 5th grade and 8th grade. I had nice students. One of them was a little difficult to remorize the name.
I entered in one of the 8th grade classrooms. I started to call the roll in order to get familiar with the students’ face. I saw one of the students whose body and face was like a boy’s one. I thought it was a boy and called HER José…. my mistake! It was a girl
. All the class started to laugh at me and at her. I felt really embarrassed! She corrected me and said her name was Josy.
“Appearance can be deceiving”
Be careful with faces and names!
Now leave yours… I want to know your embarrassing story.

CLASSES 2008 AT CILC! WELCOME BACK!!
HI STUDENTS,
I am teacher Kelly and I will be with you during this semester.
We are going to share our ideas and experiences. We will study and learn English with all our classmates and teachers. I hope you dedicate to the classes and enjoy the semester.
What can you do to become a good student?
What are you going to do to study English this semester?
I wonder how many things my students have already meet as prime objective? The beginning of a new year, a new semester of English studying at CILC, giving all effort to be renewed for 2008.
What hope and dreams they have … goals, aspirations they may conjure up.
This year I’m gonna do my best. Allow for what will come and embrace it. Whether it requires my dedication. I want blissful moments in my classroom. I dare to dream, but for now not out loud. Being easily surprised is far better. My students’ dedication I want to see as well.
SUCCESS is a consequence.
Teacher Kelly
Let’s study!

B2 – MY ROUTINE
MY ROUTINE AND ACTIVITIES
Hello students from B2. How is your week?
What do you do in the morning?
What do you do in the afternoon?
What are your activities? How often do you do them?
Here is my routine.
KELLY’S ROUTINE AND ACTIVITIES
- My routine is: I get up at 6:30 every day. I brush my teeth and take a shower. I eat my breakfast. I watch TV at 11:30. I eat lunch at 12:00 every day. I go to Cilc. I teach English at Cilc in the afternoon.
- My activities are: I go to Cilc in the morning twice a week. I check my e-mails four times a week. I exercise twice a week. I watch a movie once a week. I always study English. I usually read a magazine. I usually wash the dishes and clean the house. I sometimes do the laundry.
Now it’s your turn! Tell me your routine and your activities.
PET PEEVES!
Are you ever guilty of doing annoying things? I always feel guilty! A lot of things get on my nerves! Check it out…
It really hacks me off when I’m in a place and somebody plays loudly the kind of music I don’t like, for example, pagode or heavy metal.
It ticks me off when my cousins don’t help clean up after Christmas party.
Why is it that my sisters never return my phone calls? I always have to call again or leave a message. Guess who pays an expensive cell phone bill?
It bugs me when people act differently in front of people they want to impress. I don’t have patience with this kind of people.
It jars on me when I buy a CD and only one or two songs are really nice.
It annoys me when I watch TV programs in the morning or on a Sunday afternoon and I can get NOTHING. I see celebrities saying meaningless phrases. Singers miming and trying to be nice.
I try not to get annoyed, but I can’t resist! I think everybody has pet peeves. Tell me yours…
What are your pet peeves???? What annoys you? What bugs you?
Little Miss Sunshine
Hi people from A2.
The Hoovers go on a trip to California where Miss Sunshine competition takes place. The little Olive struggles to rehearse her presentation every day with her grandpa. The family relationship starts to show off to us who are watching this almost “reality show”.

What was the most important part in the movie for you? Why?
What made this movie so different from most of family comedy films?
Who was the most interesting character? Why?
What message can you share with us? What have you learnt from the movie?
